What is Redirx?
Redirx is URL shortener conceived by Dennis Mahle and written by Aaron Gowatch. Originally, Redirx was an ICB chat bot that would automatically create short URLs out of the long URLs that people tend to paste. But short URLs are also useful in other mediums such as email. Bots currently exist for IRC, ICB and AOL Instant Messenger.

Is the source code for Redirx freely available?

Pasting URLs here is a pain in the ass. Is there an easier way?
Sure, just drag the link below to your browsers toolbar and click it when you want to create a short URL:
Redirx

How many URLs does the Redirx database have in it?
The database currently stores 220552 URLs. Currently, an average of 107.06 URLs are added to the database per day. The most ever stored in a single day was 7473 URLs on December 02, 2005.

How long do URLs remain in the database?
At the moment, forever. The Redirx database is architected to scale to hundreds of thousands of URLs and still give speedy performance. However, all URLs are stored with a timestamp, so if performance becomes an issue, old URLs can be deleted from the database.

What information is stored with my URL? Could my employer/spouse/housemate use the Redirx database to find out personal things about me, like what kind of porn I like?
The only information stored in the Redirx database is the URL, a 3-character unique id and a timestamp. No other information about the Redirx transaction is stored in our database.

Why did you write this?
Because herf said that if I wrote it, girls would flock to me.

We know you have a choice when you URL shorten, and we thank you for choosing Redirx.
